What is Ectoin?
Ectoin (ectoine) is a natural compatible solute - an extremolyte - produced by halophilic microorganisms to survive extreme salt and drought. It stabilizes proteins and protects cells from osmotic, thermal, UV and oxidative stress, which is why it is prized in skin care.
Fermentation, not plant-derived
Ectoin is made by microbial fermentation, not extracted from plants, and supplied at 98% purity. Because the source is a defined fermentation, the impurity and contaminant profile is tight and documented.
Mechanism of action
