Product Knowledge Base
Everything buyers need to know about reishi extract
Technical depth that helps formulators and procurement teams choose with confidence.
What is Reishi Extract?
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is valued for two active families: immune-modulating beta-glucans and the triterpenes called ganoderic acids. Its traditional positioning is immune support and calm, and the triterpene-led profile is what distinguishes it from Lion's Mane.
Duanwood cultivation
Fruiting bodies are grown on hardwood (duanwood) or logs; wild Reishi is not sustainable, so cultivated material is the responsible commercial choice. Wood-grown fruiting bodies carry a richer triterpene profile than grain mycelium.
Dual extraction for both fractions
Because the actives live in different fractions, we use hot-water and ethanol dual extraction to capture both polysaccharides and triterpenes. We standardize beta-glucans to 20% or 30% by Megazyme and ganoderic acids by HPLC-UV.
Immune and calm applications
Reishi suits immune-support, calm and adaptogen supplements and functional foods, often in multi-mushroom blends. Its bitter triterpenes also limit how much can go into a capsule, which affects dosing.
Quality and testing
We verify beta-glucan and ganoderic-acid content, plus heavy metals, microbiology and pesticide residues. Dual-extracted material should show both marker families on the COA.
RFQ checklist
Confirm beta-glucan percentage, ganoderic-acid or triterpene content, single versus dual extract, and pack size. Specifying the triterpene target is what prevents a low-grade mycelium product.
