Applications
Where this ingredient fits
Use this whenβ¦ β practical formulation guidance for each downstream application.
Natural red pigment and antioxidant in beverages and foods
Functional beverage, solid drink and food colour formulators
Use lycopene when the brief needs a natural tomato-derived red colour plus antioxidant positioning, choosing oil- or water-soluble formats to match the carrier system.
Antioxidant nutraceutical softgels and tablets
Supplement brands and capsule or tablet manufacturers
Compare 5 percent to 10 percent tomato extract, 20 percent lycopene or high-purity 96 percent powder when a standardized antioxidant marker and dose matter.
Antioxidant and tone support in cosmetic skincare
Cosmetic formulators and clean-beauty brands
Use lycopene as a natural antioxidant active in serums and creams where a plant-derived free-radical scavenger supports tone and protection claims.
Product Knowledge Base
Everything buyers need to know about tomato lycopene
Technical depth that helps formulators and procurement teams choose with confidence.
What is Lycopene?
Lycopene is the red carotenoid that gives tomatoes their color and one of the more studied dietary antioxidants. We supply several forms - oil-soluble 10%, water-soluble 10% emulsion, crystalline 96% and lycopene oil 5% - because the right form depends entirely on your product matrix.
Tomato sourcing
Lycopene is recovered from ripe tomato processing, and carotenoid content tracks cultivar and maturity. Consistent raw material is what keeps color and assay stable shipment to shipment.
Extraction and form conversion
Extraction from tomato pomace or oleoresin is followed by crystallization for the 96% grade or emulsification for the water-soluble 10% grade. The water-soluble form is engineered for beverage clarity and stability, not just solubility.
Applications
Lycopene fits softgels, functional foods, solid drinks, natural color and cosmetics. Oil-soluble grades pair with lipids; water-soluble grades go into beverages and stick packs where dispersion matters.
Quality and stability
We verify lycopene (including isomer profile) by HPLC, with heavy metals, peroxide value for oil forms, microbiology and residual solvents. Lycopene is oxygen- and light-sensitive, so packaging and antioxidant protection are part of the specification.
RFQ checklist
Tell us the form (oil-soluble, water-soluble or crystalline), the target percentage and pack size, and whether you need emulsion stability data. Those points decide the grade and the quote.
